Meet Jonathan

I am Jonathan Petersen. I'm a lifelong resident of Munster and your 5th Ward Town Councilman. My parents, Milt and Linda Petersen, still live in the house on Heather Court where I grew up. I attended St. Thomas More elementary, Wilbur Wright Middle School and I graduated from Munster High School in 1984. After earning my bachelor’s degree in chemistry and Spanish from Wabash College and my MBA from the University of Notre Dame, I worked a number of years in business and real estate development around the Midwest and Chicago. I then returned to Munster to assist my father with his real estate development projects. After earning my law degree from John Marshall Law school, I have practiced real estate and business law for the last seventeen years. My office is located right here in Munster on 45th Street.

I had been involved in Munster town government and local administration for 12 years prior to my election to the Munster Town Council. I believe in conservative Republican values that include keeping our taxes low and maintaining the highest quality police, fire and other municipal services. I support providing necessary resources to maintain and improve our high-quality school system. I am pleased to report that during my time in office, we have done just that.

The efficacy of the Munster Town Council, which dictates the quality of life we have, is directly linked to the level of engagement elected officials have with residents. I encourage residents to reach out to me whenever they have a question or idea to share. Residents are the engine that drives our town and I look forward to hearing from more of you!

Cordially at your service,

Jonathan Petersen
Munster Ward 5 Councilman
